had a favorite bride pick up her album last week and had to show a little bit of it off – this is a layout from her 11×14 soho book. love the layouts!
when i first started photographing weddings, i didn’t even offer albums because all i saw were the h-u-g-e pleather albums that weigh 2 tons. ack! it wasn’t a good fit for my style of photography. i wanted something that matched my sensibility – clean lined, elegant & beautiful. gratefully, lots of good options exist now and with this particular album you pick the photos that are ‘must haves’ and ‘maybe’s', we have a phone appt or get together to look through them and make the final selection (generally around 75), I send the files to a designer in NYC and we get back a proof of the layouts (you can make a few design tweaks before the book is printed). met with a great prospective bride yesterday who collects art photography books and wanted to see her wedding in the same sort of format (love that!). in addition to the photos, we can send the lyrics to your first dance or a reading from your ceremony…whatever you like. this and other options are on melaniemauer.com – just go to ‘details’ and then ‘rates’ -m-

i found Pandora over the weekend which seems to be just ramping up over the past couple months. love it! you type in a song or artist you like and it gives you lots of similar sounding songs from other artists…great mood music. i’ll be typing in ‘crazy in love’ by beyonce when i’ve got to clean for my grandmother’s upcoming visit :) let it play and you’ve got lots of upbeat music headed your way! and it’s SO easy! nothing to download and install (you’ve just got to have flash on your computer) & it’s free. soon they’ll be adding ads so i may get a subscription then but it’s great for discovering new artists. i spend quite a bit of time on the computer proofing images/emailing and i like letting my itunes library play quietly in the background but sometimes it gets a little stale when nothing fresh is added for a few weeks – enter pandora! i’ve already found 2 new musicians i really like. -m-
p.s. have you seen nacho libre? it’s completely goofy. my brother sent tickets via fandango for my birthday and jason and i have been quoting funny lines ever since. my favorite part is how he ends his letter to the nun – keep an eye out for that :)
