karen + john

Karencan you tell how much fun these two have (karen has the most infectious laugh)?  what a blast!  and the best part, their wedding is right around the corner at the end of next month…i can’t wait!  swanky friday evening event @ the brown and then a ‘jeans required’ party at their home the next day!  i love that!  -m-

art prints

Artprintso many have asked for this and here it is…about once a year I work on a personal project (remember the call for seashells a couple months ago?). sometimes it’s an extended vacation where I photograph a country or something simple like flowers!  i love taking 30 minutes to study and photograph a single flower…and it brings a new perspective to portraits and weddings.

i’ve been approached about purchasing them often but i’ve pretty much kept them to myself except as gifts.  it dawned on me that i could just make a gallery of a handful so if you’re decorating a new room, need a gift or went to one of the cities i visited and want a fab photo of it, just click on the little gallery and you can order on-line.  i love decorating with photos. So sweet gift idea: if you see a city that you visited with your husband/fiance, get it as an anniversary gift.  (especially since the 1st anniversary gift is traditionally paper)

also, in the gallery some images have my copyright info on the photo like the one pictured to the right…yours will be printed full frame (some are also pictured with a black keyline border) without that.  take a look, enjoy & let me know what you think!  have a great week!!  the daisy pictured is hanging in my office – huge and printed on metallic paper (you’ll notice that option in the gallery…i love black & white’s printed that way).  Oh, and FYI, when you order a black and white print, it’s printed as a straight black and white (tones of white, gray & black).  There’s also a sepia option and I keep my sepia prints pretty subtle so the dark areas stay black instead of brown but my favorite is how i print all my personal b&w’s….it’s just a tiny touch of brown and i call it a ‘warm tone b&w’.  These look so terrific with oversized white mats.  So, if you’d ever like that option, just write ‘warm tone b&w’ in the comment field at the end of your order.  I’m all about customization so if you see an image from your session and we’ve got the space to crop it as a square or panoramic, just say the word!  -m-

Hoolawelp, should be in chicago but my flight has been delayed till 2 so i thought i’m make a quick blog post!  wanted to pass along a fave bronzer…the market has proliferated with these but unfortunately from a photographic standpoint, some of them aren’t at all flattering.  benefit’s hoola however rocks!  it’s awesome because it doesn’t have any of the shimmer that most do…and while a teensy (and I mean, *teensy*!) bit of shimmer isn’t bad in person, when you’re being photographed, a split second is captured so you end up with little white dots on your collarbones, cheeks and wherever else you applied it.  brides, don’t forget to tell your bridesmaids!  it’s correctable for final prints but when the shimmer is ground up very fine in the bronzer mixture, the sheen it creates is tough to do much about…i know, the odd things rattling around in my brain when a flight is delayed :)  have a great weekend – looks pretty wet so now is the perfect day to hibernate, curl up & read domino magazine!  -m-

p.s. macy’s at favette mall has a benefit counter if you’re looking for a local source.  maybe ulta on n’ville rd, too?  (not positive on that one) the photo makes the product look a little odd – it’s pressed and super super smooth.

ashleigh (one of the first mmp interns) sent a link to the most darling tableware site this week…i just had a moment to look through it a bit more & it’s awesome.   look for the 12 days of christmas plates in the holiday section!  oh, and the ‘white’ in their everyday collection has sets of ‘cupcake cups’ – those are new to me but rosanna is speaking my language!  -m-

have an awesome weekend!  i’m headed to chicago tomorrow (just for the day – great portrait shoot lined up with 1 super awesome baby) so email replies may be a tiny bit sluggish till monday.

Alison_1_2
Alison_2_1Alison_3l_1Alison_4_1what an awesome awesome couple…and their wedding was the perfect mix of elegance & *fun*.  hadn’t met them prior to the wedding day but quickly realized we were going to have a great time.  the guests were seated under those terrific trees in front of the La Belle House @ the Headley-Whitney. there were so many jaw dropping moments (alison’s sister gave an i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e toast…I’m generally a fan of keeping it fairly brief but she could have kept the entire crowd captivated for an hour – no joke, it was THAT good!) and i got the sweetest compliment from the bride’s father.  a great group and i loved the stylish touches throughout the day.

notes:
cake: martine’s (image #1 – so awesome, i’m a huge fan and this year when i didn’t think there was any room for improvement, they’ve stepped it up *again* and i’ve been having the best time photographing their gorgeous cakes.)
location: the gorgeous headley-whitney museum
caterer: the super talented dupree catering (image # 4: i could go on and on about their food displays but enjoy the quick shot of the sushi station)
florist: e.stephen hein

there were amazing photos throughout the day but the ones that seemed the most like them were when they went walking on this path @ the headley.  i love how different a photo can look even when it’s just seconds apart so i posted two.  here’s to alison & edward, here’s to love and here’s to a great ‘wedding wednesday’!  -m-
