hi there! just wanted to share a few fun things i’ve been using the
past few weeks. first is mozy (an on-line back-up service that’s free
for small amounts of space and $4.95/mo for unlimited space). we’ve
got other solutions for mmp client files but this is handy for a few
things i keep on the desktop that i don’t want to constantly be burning
cds/dvds of or putting on our bigger storage system.
and second, google sync/google desktop…google sync keeps your
firefox bookmarks the same across multiple computers (oh, and it remembers
usernames & passwords, too). i recently switched computers and
this has been so helpful!! and finally, google desktop (see it on the
righthand side of the screenshot) the verdict is still out on whether
i’ll use this long-term but it’s been handy in the short term…i like
the little weather feature, the scratch pad is good for putting up
quotes or things to get at the store that i think of throughout the
day. -m-
p.s. and just to make this post a little less geeky and more ‘melanie’
here are two cute patterns from heather bailey for headbands and baby
booties (c-u-t-e!).

every year, i wait to see what the ‘love’ stamp will look like…in case you haven’t seen it yet, here it is :) -m-

i think I’m hyperventilating. my dream of being in Martha Stewart Weddings has come true! and it happened so perfectly, i was spending an evening reading the new MSW, thinking "this is the BEST issue EVER!" It really IS! a cool featured wedding that I particularly adore, a feature on pearls (my favorite fancy thing), if you’re a bride, check it out, you’ll see :) And then, as I’m flipping in the back ad section I see an MMP photo…now mind you, I clearly remember Libba @ Sparklers asking for this image several weeks ago but with the holidays, it had long been forgotten. I got the sweetest new years surprise seeing gorgeous (and crazy smart!) jessica and uber-talented jason walking down the steps in front of the mansion @ marriott’s griffin gate. oh, and have i inadvertently left out the part where i gleefully jump around and skip down the hall? sparklers are terrific (and not just because mmp & ofd are featured in their new ad campaign) – if you’re thinking of using them for a grand exit, definitely get these. the ones you find around 4th of july are just too wimpy and generally fizzle before you & your groom have a chance to walk through them. -m-

Lisa is, in a word, swank. But if I could use a few more words they would be charismatic, elegant, warm (and warm in a way that makes you feel welcomed the moment you meet her) and stylish. She and Steele are the kind of sweet people that you hope might live next door to you some day … but, and speaking only for myself, that for a tiny moment you
hesitate being photographed next to because they are so stunning! And their friends & family are equally spectacular. When we were in Oklahoma recently (and driving through St. Louis where Lisa & Steele live) it really took all I had not to reroute the GPS to her work address and bring her lunch…it helped that it wasn’t at ALL lunchtime and that I’d probably have to wait through the night to see her the next morning but these two inspire that sort of love.
image notes:
1. her great shoes
2. dad, walking her down the aisle…can you see the great ceiling at the front of the church, it had so many details like that. gorgeous-ness!
3. i love this image of her bridesmaid during the ceremony…i’ve created this whole backstory in my head about how she’s saying a prayer for the couple
4. lisa + steele
5. lisa
6. may i obsess over lisa’s great paper style for a moment, here? note how the table numbers is held in a cool custom monogram of ‘c’

7. more paper coolness – their place cards (love how the number spilled off the edge)
8. first dance…the song was a surprise to lisa from steele (listen to ‘ain’t that a kick in the head’ by dean martin…so great)
