miya + andy

miya & andy stand out like jewels – remarkable and rare.  miya is a talented artist – and so to create a collection of images to tell their day, was an incredible opportunity to spend it beside someone whose work i particularly enjoy.  miya's voice is SO beautiful…soft, and sweet…and andy's temperament is so even, so calm, so steady.  i love what they create together – the details of their day were exquisite but the most beautiful appointment was the mood:  happiness and the sweet celebration.

wedding notes:

miya & andy, thank you for the privilege of documenting your love on a weekend that went much too quickly.  warmly, -melanie-

p.s. readers, i hope you're enjoying this lovely fall as much as we are around casa mauer!  bring on the cider, caramel apples & pumpkin bread :)   blog posts have slowed a bit as we devote extra time to all that's going on behind the scenes with lots of cute proofs – oh, and a tiny bird asked that we send a reminder that orders for prints/canvases/cards you'd like to give as holiday gifts should be received by next monday, october 7th!  just pop us a note if your gallery has expired or you need an order form.

i just heard the hilarious phrase "you're only friends, if you're facebook friends" – oh my!  that's a huge stretch, but i do find it a fun way to keep up with what's going on…so if you're a melanie mauer photography client, you can find me on facebook :)

hello again

ViaDreamhousecammyblog
i’ve been posting regularly but it’s all about photos…so i’m pulling up a chair just to talk :)  oooh, i want you to see this cute little place in nyc.  those windows make me swoon a little more than they should!  jason and i have been having wonderful conversations about life…and we’re hopeful to create a new nest within a few years so if you spy a tiny piece of land with a pretty view (or a lot located close to the heart of town – we’re flexible, just looking outside the current new neighborhoods in development), would you tell me, pretty please? we’d love to stay in fayette co if possible.  and we’re not in a hurry…just keeping our eyes open.  we really do love where we’re at right now, too…walking to the grocery, to the ice cream shop, brand new elementary school with a spanish immersion program, neighborhood pool…it’s been one of the happiest summers ever!

Pillow-annawhitfordspeaking of happy – don’t these cushions make you smile?  i’d love them en masse on a back porch swing!  and one more cute pillow while i’m at it :)  although i need things a bit more muted…like dove gray!

welp, i’ll scoot along…just wanted to chat!  thank you so much for coming to visit the blog!  warmly, -melanie-

Shaunna
it's so fun to collaborate with a client like sweet dr. shaunna johanneman!  her amazing marketing person/genius called to see if i could create some portraits for shaunna's upcoming ads featured in skirt…and seeing the final pieces, I'm so excited about her new business.

doing this shoot, reminded me what it was like walking into the county clerk's office to apply for my business license almost 10 years ago, brainstorming ways to 'get the word out' about what i did…and try to communicate at the same time that it was different than what people had come to expect of their family portraits.  shaunna is doing it all brilliantly and i'm so looking forward to my first visit to her great office!
