julia + jake

oh julia and jake, i’m far from talented enough to express how lovely your wedding celebration was.  i love that you wrote the thoughts of your heart that day in a journal, and that so many people in your family shared something wonderful (a reading, a piece of music or in the case of your aunt – a necklace from your family).  i adore that you found lots of opportunities to embrace and kiss, and that so did everyone else because your love spilled over…or perhaps your love for each other had been informed by the abundance of love residing within each of your families.  i appreciate that as a bride & groom you danced your hearts out and that as you look at one another, i see a bit of the life you’ll enjoy for many years to come.

your ceremony will be recorded as one of my most favored memories :)  -m-

one of the things my life has taught me is how important it is to try to say “i love you”
in ways that can be preserved, looked at, and read when you are alone or when there is adversity
or when circumstances bring separation. in any case…saying “i love you” is one of the “secrets”
of the happy marriage that ronnie and i have shared. ronnie’s letters move me to this day.
they are his gift to me across the years, and throughtout the decades of love.

pretty things: re-usable snack bags

hi there!

what dreamy weather we’re enjoying right now!  i wanted to post some fun things i’ve been looking at…

we use a few more plastic snack bags than i’d prefer, so i’ve been really intrigued by these…perfect for toting something yummy to the park!  and particularly these (because you could throw them in the wash). and one more etsy seller for good measure who offers them in bundled packs.  fyi: we’ll be closed monday to celebrate memorial day!  back on tuesday :)  -m-

bella bliss: classic childrens clothier

this catalog shoot was such an adventure – snow, sleet…and yet the perfect way to ring in 2009 (yes, catching up on blogging!).  i probably won't be able to stop myself from going on and on about bella bliss – i've noticed their clothes for years at client shoots and really appreciate how simple & classic their clothing is.  but i hadn't kept up with what a huge line they have now – starting with handmade sweaters, it's grown a bit each year. they create the patterns for their fabric…they reproduce great vintage finds…honestly, i'm boggled by it all but so so happy to be involved with their wonderful business.  what a treat to meet them!

i appreciate that behind this label there are two mothers…moms that appreciate that clothes for children need to be sturdy for play.  and play we did!! i missed these children so much after the shoot was over!

it was fun to see an entire collection and the creative process that went into it – and oh the sweet details like the ric rac on a back pocket.  i absolutely adore the clothes, adore the children, and adore the great family of people that make up bella bliss!  so very honored to create a record of such a labor of love.
